Bart De Wever

  • De Wever was officially sworn in as Prime Minister on 3 February 2025.
  • Belgium saw a significant political shift as Bart De Wever, leader of the New Flemish Alliance (N-VA), was sworn in as the country’s new Prime Minister.
  • This newly formed coalition, called “Arizona,” now holds a majority in Belgium’s 150-seat federal parliament.

** How many wetland sites have been included in the list of Ramsar wetland sites by the Government of India in February 2025?

  • The Government of India added four new wetland sites to the list of Ramsar sites, bringing the total number of Ramsar sites in India to 89.
  • Udhwa Lake in Jharkhand, Theerthangal and Sakkarakottai in Tamil Nadu and Khecheopalri in Sikkim are included in the list of Ramsar sites.
  • These are the first Ramsar Sites for Sikkim and Jharkhand.

  •  Indian cricket captain Rohit Sharma has surpassed Chris Gayle to become the second-highest six-hitter in ODI history, now totalling 338 sixes.
  • He now trails only Shahid Afridi, who holds the top spot with 351 sixes.

Tshego Gaelae

  • Tshego Gaelae (34), a native of Soweto, made history by becoming the first Black woman to be crowned Mrs. World 2025 at the grand finale in Las Vegas.
  • She follows in the footsteps of Candice Abrahams, the only other South African to have held the title, in 2016.
  • Tshego Gaelae became the first black winner in the 40-year history of Mrs. World.
