The government of India has implemented a number of policies to promote Rural development in the country. Some of the major policies include:

Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Act (MGNREGA)

This act guarantees the right to employment to rural households, and aims to provide at least 100 days of wage employment in a financial year to every household whose adult members are willing to do unskilled manual work.

Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojana (PMGSY)

This scheme aims to provide all-weather road connectivity to unconnected villages.

Swachh Bharat Abhiyan

This campaign aims to improve sanitation in rural areas and eradicate open defecation.

National Rural Livelihoods Mission (NRLM)

This mission aims to reduce poverty and improve the livelihoods of rural households, particularly those belonging to disadvantaged groups.

Deen Dayal Upadhyaya Grameen Kaushalya Yojana (DDU-GKY)

This scheme aims to provide skill development training to rural youth and improve their employability.
