All tribal primitive tribes or Sadans have their own ethnic panchayat in their own name. They settle matters of their caste in the ethnic panchayat. Inter-caste matters are decided in the inter-caste

1. Sadan of Jharkhand (1 question)

Who are Sadans?
  • Sadans are native non-tribal people of Jharkhand.
  • The word Sadan means ‘people who settled here.’
  • From the point of view of language, Sadan are people whose native language is Khoratha, Nagpuri, Panchpargania or Kurmali. 
  •  In terms of religion, Hindu is a primitive Sadan.
  • Also, irrespective of religion if a person’s official language is Sadri, he is a Sadan.
  • Sadan is generally Aryan in racial terms, while some are Dravidavanshi or Agnayya.

सदान कौन हैं?
  • सदान झारखंड के मूल गैर जनजातीय लोग हैं.
  • सदान शब्द का अर्थ है ‘ऐसे लोग जो यहां बसे हुए थे.’
  • भाषा की दृष्टि से जिसकी मौलिक रूप से भाषा खोरठा, नागपुरी, पंचपरगनिया और कुरमाली है, वही सदान है.
  • धर्म की दृष्टि से हिंदू ही प्राचीन सदान है.
  • इसके साथ किसी भी धर्म का हो अगर व्यक्ति की भाषा सादरी है, तो वह सदान है. 
  • प्रजातीय दृष्टि से सदान आर्य है. कुछ  द्रविड़वंशी  या आग्नेय भी हैं.

सदान  और आदिवासी में क्या अंतर है?

सदान  और आदिवासी में मूल अंतर है:

  • आदिवासी कबीलाई होते हैं, वही सदान  समुदाई होते हैं.
  • आदिवासी घुमंतू स्वभाव के होते हैं, जबकि सदान स्थाई निवास स्थान बनाते हैं.

  1. Doodh Khadia
  2. Ulki Khadia

There are few differences in the names of various designations in the self-government system of

5.1 Jharkhand Movement

Dhal Rebellion (1767-77)
  • ** The British entered Jharkhand for the first time from Singhbhum-Manbhum.
  • The Chota Nagpur region came under the British rule in 1772.
  • The first rebellion against the British took place in this region.
  • The rebellion was led by Raja Jagannath Dhal.
  • This revolt lasted for 10 years.
  • Lieutenant Rooke and Charles Magn were sent by the English Company to suppress this rebellion, but they did not succeed.
  • The rebellion calmed down after the British company accepted Jagannath Dhal as king in 1777

1. झारखंड आंदोलन

धल विद्रोह (1767-77)
  • ** झारखंड में अंग्रेजों का प्रवेश सर्वप्रथम  सिंहभूम- मानभूम की ओर से हुआ.
  • छोटानागपुर का क्षेत्र ब्रिटिश शासन के अंतर्गत लगभग 1772 मे आया था.
  • अंग्रेजों के विरुद्ध विद्रोह का प्रथम बिगुल इसी क्षेत्र में बजा.
  • विद्रोह का नेतृत्व राजा जगन्नाथ धाल ने किया.
  • यह विद्रोह 10 वर्षों तक चला.
  • अंग्रेजी के द्वारा इस उद्योग के दमन हेतु लेफ्टिनेंट रुक एवं  चार्ल्स मैगन को भेजा गया किंतु सफलता नहीं मिली.
  • 1777 में अंग्रेजी कंपनी के द्वारा जगन्नाथ धाल को राजा स्वीकार करने के पश्चात विद्रोह शांत हुआ.

‘Santhal’ is one of the major tribals of Jharkhand. Although they are in different parts of Jharkhand, the residence of majority Santhals is Santhal Pargana. According to the latest census, their total population is about 24 lakhs, which is the largest number among the tribals of Jharkhand. The traditional self-government system of Santhals is quite ancient. Every village has administrative and religious heads to run its social life safely and organizationally.
