Objectives

The aim is to make the excess water of the holy river available through pipes to the dry areas of the state like Rajgir, Gaya, Bodhgaya and Nawada.

Benefits and Important Points  —

• The first phase of Har Ghar Gangajal Yojana was started from Rajgir in Nalanda district.
• This scheme is launched under the Jal Jeevan, Hariyali Scheme.
• CM Nitish Kumar and Deputy CM Tejaswi Yadav inaugurated the Har Ghar Gangajal Yojana in Gaya.
• Water will be lifted from Hathidah near Mokama, a big pump to supply water to about 7.5 Takh households in Rajgir, Bodhgaya and Gaya.
• Under this scheme, flood water is stored in different reservoirs about 100 to 150 kilometers away from the river Ganga.
