GSDP

  • GSDP at current prices for 2023-24 = Rs. 8,54,429 crore. 
  • GSDP increased by 3.5 times since 2011-12 (base year 2.47 lakh crore) 
  • GSDP at constant prices for 2023-24 = Rs. 4.64 lakh crore.
  • Bihar’s Gross State Domestic Product (GSDP) recorded a growth of 9.2% at 2011-12 constant prices in the financial year 2023-24.

Annual GSDP growth

  • Current – 14.50%
  • Constant – 9.2%
  • In the field of economy, Bihar ranks second among the fastest growing states in the country.

Per Capita Income (₹)

  • Rs. 66828 at current prices.
  • It is estimated at Rs. 36,333 at constant prices (2011-12).
  • Per capita income is estimated to rise by 12.8% compared to last year.

Expenditure

Total Expenditure is Rs. 2,52,082 crore (in 2023-24).

  • It is estimated Rs.2.79 lakh crore in the FY 2024-25.
  • Out of the total expenditure, 40% is allocated for schemes, while 60% is spent on committed liabilities.
  • Revenue Expenditure is Rs.1.91 lakh crore.
  • Capital Expenditure is Rs. 0.62 lakh crore.
  • In the FY 2023-24 development expenditure is Rs. 1.69 lakh crore.

Receipts

  • Revenue Receipts = Rs. 1.93 lakh crore.
  • Capital Receipt = Rs. 0.60 lakh crore
  • Credit-Deposit Ratio – 56.3% (in 2024-25)

Fiscal Deficit

Rs 35,660 crore in 2023-24.

  • It was Rs 44,823 crore in the financial year 2022-23.
  • The estimated fiscal deficit of Bihar for the financial year 2024-25 is Rs. 29,095 crore.
  • Primary Deficit is 2.1% of GSDP.
  • Revenue Deficit is -0.3% of GSDP.
  • Gross Fiscal Deficit is 4.2% of GSDP.

Revenue Surplus

Revenue surplus is Rs. 2833 crore.

  • Bihar’s estimated revenue saving in the financial year 2024-25 is Rs 1,121 crore.

  • Cropping intensity highest in Supaul (1.82), then Jehanabad (1.75).
  • More than 80% of the land in Buxar and Bhojpur was under cultivation.
  • Urea accounts for two-thirds of the total fertilizer usage in Bihar, with the highest NPK fertilizer use recorded in Purnea.
  • Groundwater is the main source of irrigation in Bihar, with wells contributing to 64.1% of the gross irrigated area.
  • In the state, forest cover increased by 687 square km in 12 years.
