1. Economic survey Important Informations
- The Economic Survey of India is an annual document of the Ministry of Finance, Government of India. This survey provides a detailed review of the country’s economic performance and outlook for the upcoming fiscal year.
- The first Economic Survey of India was presented in 1950-51 as part of the Union Budget. But later it was separated from the budget in the 1960s.
- The Economic Survey is usually presented one day before the Union Budget in India.
- It is prepared by the Economic Division of the Department of Economic Affairs in the Ministry of Finance under the supervision of the Chief Economic Adviser (currently V. Anantha Nageswaran).
- The Economic Survey of India 2023-24 was presented by Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman in both houses of parliament ahead of the Union Budget 2024-25 on 22 July 2024.
