2.3 Several factors are below mentioned that are impacting TB incidence and outcomes –

Risk factors	Details
Undernourishment	7.44 lakh TB patients were undernourished in 2022. Govt provides Rs 500 monthly to nearly 1 crore beneficiaries. Ni-kshay Mitra programme offers food donations.
HIV	HIV increases TB risk by 20 times. 94,000 TB patients had HIV in 2022.
Diabetes	1.02 lakh TB patients in India had diabetes in 2022. Diabetes increases TB risk 2-3 times and affects TB treatment. 92% of TB patients were screened for diabetes in 2023; 7.7% diagnosed. 63% of diagnosed patients initiated diabetes treatment.
Alcohol Use	Daily intake of over 50 ml alcohol increases TB risk. 18.8 lakh (74%) patients were screened for alcohol use in 2023; 7.1% identified as users.
Tobacco Use	19.1 lakh (75%) patients were screened for tobacco use in 2023. 11% identified as tobacco users; 32% linked to cessation services.
