1.3. Major Initiative by Bihar Government 

 

  • In the financial year 2024-25, a target has been set to construct 3,000 kilometers of rural roads.
  • A total of 100 seed hubs have been announced to be developed to make Bihar self-reliant in the field of seeds.
  • It has been announced that Agricultural Plant Banks will be established in 100 Primary Agricultural Credit Societies (PVCS) in the year 2024-25.
  • The target of planting 1.77 crores trees in Bihar has been set under MGNREGA in the financial year 2024-25.
  • The state government will provide health insurance of up to Rs 5 lakh to 58 lakh families from its own resources.
  • In the financial year 2024-25, ₹ 55,000 crores will be spent on the overall development of children.
  • The target percentage for electricity production from renewable sources in Bihar by 2024-25 is set at 35%.
  • In the financial year 2024-25, 14% of the total budget, amounting to ₹ 39,000 crores, will be spent solely on women.
  • A tax exemption of 75% is given on battery-operated two-wheelers, four-wheelers, passenger vehicles, and heavy motor vehicles in Bihar.
  • The Bihar government targets to install 100% smart meters by 2025.
  • Maternal mortality rate dropped by 47 points in the year between 2015-17 and 2018-19. At national level it dropped by 25 points.
  • As of January 30, 2024, a total of ₹4,766 crores has been distributed under the Bihar Student Credit Card Scheme, with 2,58,888 cards issued to date.
  • In the upcoming financial year, a Model Science Lab will be set up in 78 exemplary higher secondary schools in collaboration with IIT Patna. Last financial year, this initiative was successfully completed in seven schools within the Patna district.
  • An agreement has been signed with SECI to supply 210 MW of green energy to important cities, ensuring 24-hour electricity.
    • During the day, power will be generated from solar energy, while a pumped storage plant will provide energy after sunset, utilizing solar power.
    •  The project is set to be completed by July 2024.
  • Under the “Medal Laao, Naukri Pao Yojana,” appointment letters were issued to 71 athletes who performed excellently in sports and brought fame to the country and Bihar.
  • The Swachhangini Project has been launched to promote the entrepreneurship of women living in slums in the Patna Municipal Corporation area, marking a significant step towards women’s empowerment.
  • A target has been set to spend 1.2 lakh crores on farmers by the year 2028. Educational reservation of 4% was provided to Persons with Disabilities.
  • Shri Ram Janaki Medical College and Hospital in Sarairanjan, Samastipur , is being constructed at a cost of ₹551 crores with a capacity of 500 beds, which will make a significant contribution to the healthcare services in the region.
  • A special scheme is being run for betel leaf production and development in Bidupur of Vaishali district, which will benefit the local farmers economically.
  • The “Plug and Play” shed was inaugurated in the Sikandar Pur industrial area of Bihta, Patna, which will assist industries in quick operations.
  • A target has been set to open 50 “Jeevika Didi Ki Rasoi” in the financial year 2024-25, which will provide employment to women. Jeevika libraries will be opened under this programme in 32 districts and 100 blocks by jeevika.
  • Efforts will be made to increase employment in the IT sector through Bihar IT policy 2024 which will be applicable for the next 5 years.
  • On the occasion of Raksha Bandhan Free travel for women by state road transport has been announced in the budget.
  • 2 lakh rupees has been granted for setting up small businesses to improve the economic condition of poor families.
