Electricity Tariff for Agricultural Consumers

• electricity is being supplied to agricultural consumers at a highly subsidized rate of Rs 0.70 per unit.
• The remaining amount of Rs. 6.19 per unit is being provided by the state government as subsidy.

• Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar on 23 February 2024 rejected the opposition’s demand for providing at least 200 units of free electricity to the poor and emphasized that electricity is already being supplied to consumers at highly subsidized rates.
• The primary focus of the scheme is to support the agricultural sector with affordable electricity.
